The debonair Delhi scribe and man about town, Rahnam Pachry esq, has a new article headlining in the Arbuturian. “The Nabokov Arts Club: Fable” is his account of the goings on of the renowned partyists and art wranglers on a night out at the Battersea Arts Club.
Harold Chapman has the great honour in traveling to Italy tomorrow on a five day tour of the South Tyrol near the Dolomites to film and interview the renowned mountaineer Reinhold Messner for the Arbuturian. Messner, who, as the first man to climb Everest without oxygen and to scale all of the world’s 14 peaks over 8,000 metres, is commonly regarded as the greatest mountaineer of all time.
”Invisible” has been selected out of 1000 entries to screen at the Big Sur International Film Series in the remote Californian wilderness of Big Sur. The enclave is renowned for its artistic and bohemian history with writers such as Henry Miller, Jack Kerouac and Hunter Thompson having variously lived or spent time there. Orson Welles and his first wife Rita Hayworth famously bought a cabin there on their first visit. The Big Sur Folk Festival also ran there during the sixties bringing with it the likes of Joan Baez and Joni Mitchell.
The Big Sur screenings will be held outdoors in a natural ampitheatre under the towering redwoods between June and August of this year.
“Invisible” has just been chosen for official selection at The Gold Lion Film Festival in Swaziland which is one of Africa’s leading short film showcases. Through Gold Lion, there will also be additional screenings at Bush Fire International Festival of the Arts – Swaziland’s performance arts festival. This is exciting news – it is “Invisible’s” premiere in Africa and the first time it will be shown to an African audience who are predominantly non-English speakers.
